Dole Whip at Disneyland

The best part of Adventureland at Disneyland is not the Indiana Jones ride. It’s the Dole Whip.

Ever since a friend reminded me of the soft-serve pineapple ice cream, I wondered when I could get a chance to have it again. I remembered from a past trip to Hawaii long ago, seeing the beautifully swirled dessert at the Dole pineapple plantation in Honolulu. It’s light and airy and there’s something about the way it looks that makes it so inviting. When a trip to Disneyland rolled around, I made sure to have it again.

What surprised me was the long line to get it. We waited for what was likely 20 minutes. As we got near the tiki stand, the giddy anticipation was palpable. People started to get a glazed look in their eyes as they got closer — or maybe that was just me. The heady aroma of pineapples was almost overwhelming as we were handed our beautiful Dole Whip Floats, which costs $5.10 after taxes. An order of just the ice cream is $2.79 — not too bad for buying food at a popular theme park. The float includes fresh pineapple juice, a paper umbrella and a maraschino cherry. I loved it so much, I think I finished mine in five minutes.

After walking along the park all day, it was the perfect refreshment. See you next time, Dole Whip!
